ABOUT ELC

Evans, Latham & Campisi is the leading trust and estate litigation firm in Northern California.  It was founded in 1980 by Thomas Latham and Dominic Campisi, Each of ELC’s nine attorneys adds his or her own unique resources, creativity, and skills to a firm that prides itself on strong, reliable, and productive representation of clients seeking the successful resolution of the probate and trust disputes they face.

Because all of the lawyers at ELC specialize in the same practice area, there are very few types of probate and trust disputes that our firm does not encounter regularly.  We have litigated dozens of will contests and trust contests, claims of fiduciary mismanagement and breach of trust and fiduciary duty, questions of intestate succession, community property claims, probate and trust accountings, and the many other issues that can arise upon a person’s death and the distribution of his or her assets.

We represent individuals, corporations, and other business organizations, including non-profits.  Because we both prosecute and defend claims and represent both beneficiaries and fiduciaries, our attorneys regularly view disputes from a variety of perspectives, which works to the benefit of our clients.  The collective experience of the attorneys in ELC allows us to provide cost-effective representation to our clients yet remain sensitive to the many factors that make each person’s case unique.

Beyond the representation of individual clients, our attorneys are actively involved in advancing issues of probate and trust law.  We have served in leadership roles in the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section of the American Bar Association and the Trusts and Estates Section of the State Bar of California.  We have spoken extensively to other practitioners locally, state-wide, and throughout the country.  We have published extensively, including the lion’s share of the two volume treatise “California Trust and Probate Litigation” published by the California CEB.  And we have been regularly recognized by our peers – with six of our nine attorneys being named as Northern California “Super Lawyers” or “Rising Stars,” and two of our attorneys being named among the “Best Lawyers” in Northern California.

We at ELC are proud to belong to a firm that provides our clients with both the resources of a large law firm and the personal attention of a small one.
